Hello,
Next week will be our quarterly assessments, so we are finishing up some units and reviewing others. Next week the upper grades have their final exam, so Friday March 14th will be a half day for kindergarten.
In writing we are on our final letter, Zz. The prompts I use for upper case Z are 'top, across, slide, across.' For lower case z, the prompts are 'middle, across, slide, across.'
In phonics we are quickly doing two letters that are low frequency letters. Xx and Qq. For x they will hear the x sound at the end of box, fox, ox and six. For q, they will hear the q sound in queen, quill, quilt, quarter and quail.
In math, we will continue with solid shapes. They will recognize that a solid shape has similarities to plane shapes and that everyday objects are made with solid shapes.
In language arts we will be reviewing the more recent shape, colour and size shape words.
In social studies we will different types of land and the kinds of houses that are there.
In science we will review a few topics from the past quarter.
Story, we will read 'where The Wild Things Are. '
